St Maarten Bachlorette Party

St Maarten Bachlorette Party
Julia with the help of a few other girls planned a bachlorette party for me.  They did it so early because a lot of our friends are leaving soon and they wanted to be there.
Josh and I before my party :-)

Julia got me a crown and sash to wear
The whole party was a secret so I had no clue what the night had in store....
We started by Julia picking me up at 7:00 and we went to the Aventura pool area for drinks, food, and games.
Some pictures of all the people who came:
Amanda, Laura A, Leah
Laura, Allison, & Willow
Ashley, Julia, and Brittani
Janet, Lacey, and Stephanie
Ronda and Arin
Everyone who came brought food and drinks to share.

The next bar we went to was 1-Eleven.  It is a champaign bar where they bring the bottles out on fire... our waitress..

It is a very classy place and even displays their vodka in a nice way...

The last bar we went to was Tantra in Maho.

A Special Congrats are In Order

A Special Congrats are In Order
Today the point of this blog is to let close friends and family know about a success Josh has recently had.   Josh would never want to put this out there.... so I will! This week Josh received notice that he made it into the Medical School Honor Society.  He had to apply, interview, then wait.   This is a great thing to be able to put on his resume. The full name is Alpha Omega Phi Honor Medical Society.

Here is a little paragraph from their official website explaining more about the group:
Alpha Omega Phi is designed to encourage and recognize high standards of education, character, morality and conduct befitting the field of science. Members, who are in the top 25% of their class, are inducted at the beginning of their fifth semester and must exhibit qualities of leadership, excellence and dedication to the community.

Josh will hate me for putting this up but oh well!
CONGRATS JOSH!!

5th Semester Farewell Dinner

5th Semester Farewell Dinner
At the end of every Semester there comes a time to say our good-byes to all the 5th semesters.  When you first arrive on the Island the good-byes are easy because the people leaving are almost strangers to you.  However, each semester you're here you become closer to the leaving 5th semesters and the good-byes become harder.  This semester is when it is really hitting us that our time here is coming to a close.   The 5th semesters leaving now are only one semester above us.   When we arrived here they were 2nd semesters and we were 1st.  We have gotten to know these people very well in the year and 3 months we've been here. So because of this we are very sad to see them go.

Easter Break

EASTER BREAK
We started our Easter Break with a girls dinner at Deep Blue while Josh studied.
On friday morning, we took a lunch to our friends Jenni & Jessi who just had a new baby girl, Savanah 6lbs 2oz. This is Jenni's second baby she has had on the island, her first being Elle.  This time Jenni and Jessi barely made it to the St Maarten hospital before the birth of Savanah.  Luckily they didn't hit traffic or the bridge but by the time Jessi parked the car and made it to Jenni- the baby was here!
A few pictures of their beautiful girls.
On Saturday morning, Josh and I went to the Spouses Org's Easter Brunch.
They had dessert Crepes!

After the brunch we took Anna and Maggie out for a walk.  We saw Maggie jumping around in the bushes so Josh went in to get her out.  This is what we found her with... a huge lizard tail.  We think the Lizard made it safely away from the Maggie.

Finally it is Sunday!!!
The Easter Bunny Came!

The Easter Bunny brought us ring pops which gave us a lot of entertainment.

Later that morning, we spent sometime out on the deck playing

Then we spent the afternoon on the beach.  We went to Baie Rouge on the french side

Don and Julia
Don ordered a plate of fries.  He sat down on the beach then out of the corner of my eye I saw a lizard running full force at us.  I yelled to julia to turn around, when she did the lizard stopped for a minute then continued to run at us.  Don threw a french fry at the lizard and the lizard pretty much grabbed the fry out of the air and took off to the rocks.  We later saw the lizard eating the french fry under a rock.  Don throwing more french fries to the lizards.
Josh was bored....
and so was I...

Overall we had a great easter break!
